August was, for many of us, the time to move in
and settle in our new apartments. This involved quite a bit of buying
new stuff, throwing things out (even furniture) and just getting
acquainated with Kitakyushu-shi (shi means city). The Board of Education
gave us a tour of various parts of the city. We had to attend a
quick Japanese language course. And so on.
Culture shock didn't seem to hit most of us yet.
That's because we weren't working. We were, by the looks of it,
on vacation. City exploration. City tour. Homestay visits.
