May 10th.
Jon told me the apartment hadn’t changed all that much. When I went inside, a few pieces of furniture from the bedroom were moved out by the kitchen. Otherwise the place was almost exactly the same. The only new addition was that the place smelled like cigarettes.
It was just slightly emotional being back in the place that was my home for a year. We ate Hokka Hokka Tei bentos while watching some Japanese TV…

Kokura Castle and the Riverwalk didn’t change very much. Neither did Jon or Amber. Always a good thing.

May 8th. On the first evening of my return to Kitakyushu, I walked into Yakyuudori and surprised Koichi and some regulars that remembered me. It was good to be back…

May 7th. The sun sets and Hiro, Yoshie and I leave the World Expo for Yoshie’s home in Nagoya. Ramen stopover included.

More selections from my Japan trip in May. An exploration of the World Expo in Aichi.

Last month’s excursion from Kyoto to Nagoya (and Aichi). The World Expo.
